The Do 1 Thing Challenge was something that actually came about on accident, really. Back in February of 2009, I elected to go through a series of surgeries to repair my upper jaw/teeth due to an old sports-related injury. The surgeries unfortunately had complications and I ended up in an excruciating amount of pain and a mostly liquid diet through the end of March. The consequence of all those surgeries, and limited diet was twofold: I lost about 10lbs. My clothes had never looked better. I’d never been so weak and depleted in my entire life. My clothes looked better than ever and I had absolutely no energy to go anywhere in them. Well if that isn’t a slap in the face, I don’t know what is! Recovery Clearly I needed to start a journey back towards getting healthy. ... View Post
A Diet You Can Actually Do While Eating Christmas Cookies
So you want a diet that you don't have to wait til January 1 to start? I have one I think you’ll absolutely love. Where you can still enjoy all of your Christmas treats, attend every holiday party, and participate in all sorts of cookies changes… and it will not throw you off this diet. The Diet In fact, this diet is the number one lifestyle change I think almost everyone should do BEFORE the mad dash towards New Year's resolutions begins. Before cutting carbs. Before signing up for a gym. Before redoing your family budget for meal planning. Yes, well before any of that -- here's the diet to start with: Go through all your social media and DELETE anybody is going to criticize you or judge you for making healthy lifestyle choices or changes come January 1. Yup. That's the ... View Post
Becoming Unstoppable: Reflect, Prepare and Just Do the Thing – CDF Blog 11-14
Dec 1-4th - Days 11-14 This blog post is going to be different than my other ones — and for good reason. Here’s what you need to know about the workouts: I did them. Here’s what you need to know about the meal plan: I mostly got it right. Friday night, I went over to a friend’s house and we definitely had Chinese and drank wine. I tried not to over do it. But after weeks of eating really clean and healthy, that combo of food and wine really left me feeling not so great on Saturday. Not hungover, but just… puffy and gross. The company and conversation was awesome. However, I question whether the meal was worth it. Lesson learned. Preparation as a Mindset Shift What I really want to spend some time talking to you about is how preparation and telling on myself two weeks ago was ... View Post
Be Merry, Train Like a Badass and Be…Kind? – CDF Blog Day 11
Nov 30 - Day 10 Just a short post today... Today started extra early as ‘something’ woke me up at 0330 and for some reason, I just said, “Eff it.” and got out of bed. Put on my workout clothes and did my workout. That's actually a noticeable improvement. The Do 1 Kind Thing Challenge (#D1KTC) Something I'm actually really excited to share with you is that my good friend, Erin Whitehead of ManyKindRegards.com & I are teaming up for the month of December to focus specifically on the mind and heart piece that is truly the focus of The Snarky Fit Project. The magic is happening over on Facebook. Today’s workout: MMA Shred + Core Kinetics 37 minutes, 9 rounds + 16 minutes Since I’m more familiar with MMA Shred by now, I really tried focussing on dialing up the intensity. ... View Post
Failing Forward: How to Navigate a Hot Mess of a Day – CDF Blog Day 09
Nov 29 - Day 09 The thought of sleeping in a sports bra last night was just not happening. So I opted for laying out my workout clothes instead. Slept terribly. Woke up and thought it was Wednesday, because Monday had enough bullshit crammed into it for 2 days. Convinced myself not to workout in the morning… …circled back around about a half hour later. “Do the Thing, E.J.” Did the Thing. Today’s workout: Power Sculpt 37 minutes, 9 rounds I noticed that I am able to progress some of the movements — at least for part of the move. I try to challenge myself, but then I’m okay when it’s time to back off and go back down to a modification. High five to my girl, Jessica! (Did you miss my post on how Jessica the modification girl on Core De Force is my workout BFF?) The ... View Post
Telling On Myself: Tackling Mindset and Planning – CDF Blog Day 08
Nov 28 - Day 08 It is Week 2 and — I can’t believe about I’m about to actually say this, but— I am feeling awesome! That is not to say I leap out of bed early and eager awaiting my workout -- no no. The last time I lept out of bed for anything was when my laundry detergent exploded at 3am and I thought someone had broken in the house. Leaping (especially out of bed and early in the morning) is reserved for life-or-death kinds of reasons. But I digress... Scales and Head Games I have stayed off the scale for the entire first week, and today when I was getting out of the shower I thought I looked a little different. Still, I wanted to stay off the scale. My patience would be rewarded. Not to mention, I'm definitely one of those people who (for better or worse) will feel good about ... View Post
