How I’m Shedding and Reclaiming My Life

October 7, 2017

I haven't touched this blog since March. Hard to believe it's been that long, and at the same time it makes sense. About a week after my last post, my life as I knew it essentially imploded on itself. Big time. Whilst trying to pick up the pieces, I'm sorry to say that much like this neglected blog, fitness and health took a little bit more of a back seat than I would like to admit. << 8 months forward>> I can honestly say that I am steadily rising from those ashes. And I'm SO READY to get healthy again. And to jump start this renewed endeavor, I'm doing something different: I'm doing the 3 Day Refresh! A Snarky Overview of Cleanses "Cleanse" has become somewhat of a dirty word in the past few years. And mostly for good reason -- the idea that you can eat like crap ... View Post

She’s Come UnBoxed! Everything You Need to Plan & Execute!

March 12, 2017

So when I started The Snarky Fit Project, I knew three four things: My jeans didn't fit. The drill instructor approach and the super fluffy guru approach both did not work for me. Other people are trying to get healthy too. I'm better at helping other people than helping myself, so I'd better make this a community journey. What I didn't know was whether my personal brand of snarky, quirky, and mildly self-deprecating humor would be received well... at at. My Biggest Fear My biggest fear was that I would start this journey only to find myself alone. No one would care. Or worse, they would criticize. Let me tell you -- the EXACT OPPOSITE HAPPENED! Little by little, over the last couple months a supportive community of some of the most driven, motivating and 100% ... View Post

My Favorite Shakeology Recipe – My S.O.B. Mocha Shake!

February 15, 2017

So by now, if you follow me at all on facebook or instagram (I can't figure out snapchat, so please don't even add me), you know that I went from total skeptic to true believer with Shakeology. I probably owe you a post on exactly why that is, but that's a story for a different day. **FYI: This post contains affiliate links - but please do not feel obligated to purchase through the links provided** Today, I want to share with you my absolute FAVORITE recipe for Shakeology: The S.O.B. Mocha! A little backstory, on this bad ass recipe because it actually came from two sources: The first source is the original S.O.B. Mocha Latte from The Village Cafe in Bryan, TX (or if it's not the original, it's at least that's where I first had it). There, the S.O.B. Mocha Latte is a latte ... View Post

I Bought Myself Flowers and You’ll Never Guess Why!

February 12, 2017

Today I bought myself flowers. No, it's not my birthday, or because Valentine's Day is coming up. It's not because they were on sale (okay, so they were... but that's not why).   New Week, New Challenge Tomorrow, I am starting a new 21 Day Challenge Group and since it's Sunday, naturally... it's meal prep day. I actually bought myself flowers as part of my meal prep. That might sound kind of funny to buy yourself flowers in the context of starting a new fitness program. Fitness programs are generally about changing some aspect of yourself, right? I mean, I suppose there's some small subsection of the population that really loves working out for the sake of it and not for some alteration or end result. To which the only thing that comes to mind is that awesome Jim ... View Post

How to Stand Up :: A 3 Step Guide to Putting the Pieces Back Together

February 5, 2017

Please note the real title of the piece should be: "How to Stand Up :: A 3 Step Guide to Putting the Pieces Back Together after Getting Your Ass Handed to You for a Month (And Realizing Oh and By the Way, You Totally Did This to Yourself)" Remember that Rachel Platten song "Fight Song" that came out a couple years ago? Yeah ya do... and if you're like me you're totally humming it to yourself right now. It's awesome. It came to my attention only a few days after it hit the airwaves when a former client of mine sent me an email (recreated here b/c I don't have access to that email addy anymore): Wow. Can you see why I love my job? It was the highest of compliments. And some days I question if I'm worthy of such high praise. Conveniently, it seems like when I'm talking to folks, ... View Post

Three Snarky Tips for Surviving Your Holiday Social Obligations (Even the Most Tedious)

December 23, 2016

Ahh, the holidays… While this season is one of my favorites of the year for many reasons — cheesy holiday movies, decorations, and Christmas Carols being among my top guilty pleasures — it can also be a time of great stress. From traveling plans going awry to some mandatory social obligations, the sentiments of Merry and Bright can quickly feel like Scary and Uptight.   So here’s three quick tips you might consider to help get you through any tense moments you might encounter: Three Tips to Get You Through Holiday Social Events (Even the Most Tedious) 1) Expectation Management. It’s always interesting to me that we can experience something year in and year out, and yet still be surprised when we encounter it again. I don’t care if we’re talking about extra long lines at the post ... View Post
