So by now, if you follow me at all on facebook or instagram (I can’t figure out snapchat, so please don’t even add me), you know that I went from total skeptic to true believer with Shakeology. I probably owe you a post on exactly why that is, but that’s a story for a different day.

Today, I want to share with you my absolute FAVORITE recipe for Shakeology: The S.O.B. Mocha!
A little backstory, on this bad ass recipe because it actually came from two sources:
- The first source is the original S.O.B. Mocha Latte from The Village Cafe in Bryan, TX (or if it’s not the original, it’s at least that’s where I first had it). There, the S.O.B. Mocha Latte is a latte made with espresso, scalded milk (or whatever it is they use for lattes), dark chocolate and smoky warm ground chilis. It’s not offensive or overpowering in any way. It’s just enough heat to add a little extra depth of flavor and warmth.Side Note: if you are ever in that part of Texas, you’ve got to stop in! It’s awesome. The atmosphere is so chill and they always have cool artwork from local artists hanging on the walls. Great vibe.
- The second source is from my friend, Kim. Kim is a dear friend and military spouse who writes this fantastic blog that you should definitely check out while you sip your S.O.B. Mocha Shakeology. Kim told me how she would mix chocolate shakeology with almond milk and added Cafe Bustelo Espresso Instant Coffee Powder to make a healthier version of her beloved Startbucks Frapp.
Depending on where you live, you can find Cafe Bustelo in you local grocery store, or just do what I did and get it from Amazon.
The Recipe
1 scoop of Shakeology (Chocolate or Chocolate Vegan)
1 c. Unsweetened Almond Milk (or milk of your choice)
1 tsp. of Cafe Bustelo Espresso Instant Coffee or other instant* espresso powder
1 pinch (or more to taste) of ground Ancho chili pepper or your favorite dried chilis.
I use McCormick’s ground Ancho or Chipotle chilis.
Then just blend it up with lots of ice and enjoy!
Two important stars:
*Make sure you use instant or you’re gonna be in for a nasty gritty surprise on the tail end of this recipe.
**Make sure whatever you’re using is JUST ground chilis and NOT chili powder. Some companies sell “chili powder” but it’s the seasoning for actual chili dishes and they contain dried chilis in addition to things like onion, garlic, and other herbs. That is NOT what we are going for here.
So are you going to try it?! Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment or sharing your pictures with me on Facebook or Instagram!!
