Today I bought myself flowers.
No, it’s not my birthday, or because Valentine’s Day is coming up. It’s not because they were on sale (okay, so they were… but that’s not why).
New Week, New Challenge
Tomorrow, I am starting a new 21 Day Challenge Group and since it’s Sunday, naturally… it’s meal prep day.
I actually bought myself flowers as part of my meal prep.
That might sound kind of funny to buy yourself flowers in the context of starting a new fitness program. Fitness programs are generally about changing some aspect of yourself, right?
I mean, I suppose there’s some small subsection of the population that really loves working out for the sake of it and not for some alteration or end result. To which the only thing that comes to mind is that awesome Jim Gaffigan meme (source)
*LOL* I love that one!
But for the rest of us, fitness programs usually come with some sort of desired change. Which is EXACTLY why I bought myself flowers.
Okay, but Why the Flowers?
I did to remind myself that I’m already beautiful.
That I am already worthy of love.
And respect.
I am already valuable and that the process I’m about to do is because I AM worth it…
Not because I’m worthless until I hit a certain goal.
Now notice I didn’t say, “because I feel beautiful in this moment” or “because I feel valuable or lovable in this moment.”
I said I AM.
Independent of my feelings.
Independent at this moment.
Because feelings are flakey and can change. And moments can pass.
AND if you don’t get this mental piece right from the very start, then you can leave yourself open to have negative feelings and moments exert more power over you than they deserve.
Eff. That.
Since I can’t Buy You All Flowers…
I wish I could buy all of my challengers and readers flowers for this reason. Since that’s not exactly feasible, I’ve created a download for you instead.
Just plug in your name and email, and hit the “I AM WORTH IT” button at the bottom of this post, and I’ll send a beautiful, hi-res 800 x 1200 version of this image right away!
